Samantha Adler is a writer, director, and producer. She moved from the small town of Haddonfield, New Jersey to big city Los Angeles, California in August 2010 to pursue her dream for creating and making movies and television. Her first introduction to film and directing was the Digital Certificate program at Brooks Institute, where Samantha received first-hand experience working on real film sets and getting hands-on knowledge and practice. She graduated the Digital Certificate program at Brooks Institute in Ventura, June 2011 and thereafter sought out a career for creating, writing, producing, and directing her own stories.

In continuing education, Samantha was persistent to hone in on her craft, always wanting to resume her education for learning new techniques and to constantly grow her skills. She completed the Producer Certificate Program at the University of California, Los Angeles in May 2015. In the program, Samantha studied Low Budget Filmmaking, Legal Primer for the Entertainment Business, Screenwriting for Television, The Business of Entertainment, How to Make Your First Short Film and Understanding Film Genre. The program was a great jumping off point for Samantha to get more serious in creating the stories she wanted to tell and giving them life.

A few years later, Samantha enrolled to the University of California, Santa Barbara, to complete her Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis on Film and Media Studies and graduated in December 2018. There she learned and researched the history and theory of film and media practices around the world including: Fiction and Nonfiction Filmmaking, Digital Media Production, Screenwriting, Archival and Curatorial Practices in Conservation of Film, Film & Media Theory, Cultural Theory, Film Noir, Telegraphy & TV, Silent Film History, Media Criticism, Quentin Tarantino Criticism, Star Wars Criticism and Film and Popular Culture.

Within the span of four years, Samantha wrote/produced/directed seven projects of her own: five short films, one music video and wrote one pilot, with the majority being funded through crowd funding, the others for school and some just to create for the fun of it.

When Samantha is not writing and creating projects, she can be found at the Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles performing improv and musical improv. Improv is an important skill to obtain, where one can constantly be able to think in the spur of the moment and keep their gears moving. Improv develops creativity, mental flexibility, strengthening thinking/problem solving skills and broadening one’s imagination on creating and generating new ideas in a free flow format. Utilizing this skillset helps Samantha keep a fresh mindset when creating and in real life scenarios.

Taking all of her education that she learned along the way, she utilizes her skillsets and put them to the test on creating stories that inspired her that she feels needs to be seen by audiences. Most of her work is inspired by female voices and the struggles that they face on a day-to-day basis: mental health, western female societal drawbacks, and nature versus nurture.

Since 2010, Samantha has been persistently creating new projects and exploring fresh and innovative ideas to project new stories to be told in a different light. With wanting to explore more educational outlets, Samantha is currently studying for the LSAT to also pursue a law degree with an emphasis on Entertainment Law. She wants to provide a safe space for those who don’t have a voice and to be their positive influence in helping them break down the barriers, where they can freely express their opinions on a larger scale.

She hopes she can continue to develop and create strong female protagonist stories that help empower and enlighten women around the globe. Samantha resides in Los Angeles, California with her fiancé Michael, and their two dogs, Serbi Bernard and Roo Bader Ginsburg.
