THE SWAT THAT WAS SEEN FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE
I’M SURE everyone has already watched this gif, at least 100 times, of First Lady Melania Trump swatting the hand of her husband, Presidant Donald Trump, while they walked the glorified red carpet at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport Monday morning.
CNN reported that “as the Trumps and [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara] walked the red carpet following a formal welcoming ceremony and remarks, the President seems to reach for his wife’s hand. The first lady appears to swat her husband’s hand away with a visible flick of her wrist. The White House has not responded to CNN’s request for comment and context on the moment, but the video clip is already going viral” (CNN).
Seems to me that there is trouble brewing between The President and The First Lady, and for the first time I don’t think that Mar-a-Lago has anything to do with it – if anything, Mar-a-Lago helps with their relationship. Since they are already separated as is, seeing as the First Lady has been living in NYC with their son since Trump has been in office. Vogue wrote an article and quoted US Weekly who reported back in February that “she [Melania Trump] was presumably considering staying in New York full-time, but that rumor was later denied by the White House” (Vogue).
To fuel the fire of the swat of the wrist, Israeli publication, Haaretz, went to Twitter and wrote “well this is embarrassing” (CNN) and added a “slow motion clip [gif] of the moment. The tweet has nearly 30,000 retweets as of this writing” (CNN).
It’s been reported that the Trumps have been seen holding hands during their foreign travels and it’s unknown as to why the First Lady swatted the President – but unknown reasons aside, I give her mad props!
